I have done a fair bit of reading on here about PSU's, including reading about one or two of the PSu's I mention below in other people's posts. I am looking for 650w minimum for the specs I have and I had a look around and found a couple that seem not too badly priced....could someone plz advise me if they are gd enough to run this :

Already Have :
E6600 dual core,
Asus p5w DH delux mobo,

Not Yet Bought
more than likely be 2gb, of the PC2-6400 800MHz type,
8800GTX - if funds permit, not looking to Sli either.

And the Psu's are :
650W Xclio X12S4P4 Modular
670W HiperPower PSU
X-Power 700W

I like the look of the bottom one TBH cos I can get get one of those locally for £80, so input from a few tech heads would be highly appreciated.

All of those 3 PSU's are NOT RECOMENDED. PSU is most overlooked component in your system. Spend wisly on a PSU. You are going to need around 33-36 amps on a +12V rail. Buy a well know PSU brand with quality in mind.

Here are couple of PSU's that will be pleany to power your system and will give you an option to oc as well. You will have to find these in your are where you live by a model number.

CORSAIR CMPSU-520HX - $130

ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT - $110

ENERMAX Liberty ELT620AWT - $150
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817194004
OCZ GameXStream OCZ600GXSSLI - $130
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817341001
SILVERSTONE ZEUS SST-ST65ZF - $140
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817163108

All these will work for a single 8800gtx and not in SLI mode.

Thanks for this info guys, Sarsoft I just looked thru those that you provided and the OCZ GameXStream OCZ600GXSSLI is rated at only 18A on the 12v rail when you check the spec tab HERE
Or am I misunderstanding how the amps are worked out...is it a total of all 12v rails ??

The OCZ GameXStream is more then enough to power your future system. It has 48 amps on +12V rail and pleanty of room to add more hd's (including raid setup), fans, dvdrs and even a liquid cooling setup. OCZ GameXStream is best bang for your money. Aslo the CORSAIR CMPSU-520HX is a great quality PSU too it offers 40amps. Which ever PSU you pick you are good to go.
