CPU Won't Overclock

Specs:
intel core 2 duo e6600(stock cooling)
evga 7600GT
ocz gold 2x512mb ddr2-800(only running at ddr2-667)
ABIT AW9D
coolermaster 500w
wd caviar se 80gb


im a noob when it comes to this stuff, but i know that an e6600 should overclock ALOT higher than 2.7GHz on stock cooling
right now im running at 2.65GHz and like ~33 celcius idle(core temp.exe) though im not sure how stable it is... trying to figure out prime95 right now

can someone throw some ideas at me? when i set bus speed at 333MHz like in the overclocking guide, system speaker just does a long beep then computer restarts and auto loads optimized defaults.

Well it certainly doesnt seem like your hitting the end because of your temps, 2.6Ghz would be about the limit of ddr-667 RAM, but since you have DDR-800 you should be able to go well beyond that. have you tried increasing the v-core voltage?

Drop your FSB-memory divider to a 1:1 ratio(533 mhz). That'll give you capability to run a 400 mhz fsb if you'd like. I've got my MCH set to 1.4v, ICHIO to 1.6v, and CPU is 1.43. hope that helps.

well idk how to OC my ram to ddr2 800 if anyone could help me that'd be good because thats what its supposed to be running at and i paid the extra 20 for 800 instead of 667.

WOW! thanks both of you guys. i changed that ratio thing to ddr 533 or 1:1 and didnt up any voltages, but my temps lowered?



i will update thread if anything goes wrong when i up the FSB, thanks
