I've been sitting here with an AMD Athlon 2500+ for about 5 years. Now it's time to jump ship on the old computer and welcome a new set of internals to the glorified case. Here's the kind of setup I'm looking at:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ EE Dual Core Processor AM2 Windsor 2.0GHZ 512KBX2 65W 90NM

ASUS M2N-E ATX AM2 Nforce 570 Ultra

Corsair Value Select PC2-5300 1X1024MB DDR2-667 240PIN DIMM

BFG GeForce 7600 GT OC PCI-E 256MB 128BIT GDDR3

Keep in mind, I'm on a budget, and it will all come out to ~$550 CDN. And by budget, I mean pretty damn strict of a budget. I'll never go SLI, and it's going to be a very recreational computer (as in, pleasure, not just work, so gaming (Counterstrike, Wow (heaven forbid)) and movies are the gist of it).

Please give me your opinions on this setup! If you have an recommendations/opinions on certain products I'm investing in, please don't leave me in the dark!

Thanks in advance,

Geehumshriber.

don't listen to this guy...get the 1 stick of 1GigRam. doing 2 sticks of 512 will give you maybe a 5% performance increase, but lowers the total amount of ram you'll ever be able to put into the system. However with that said, if you know you'll NEVER upgrade the ram on this mobo, then by all means do the 2x512

god gave us 4 ram slots of a reason, i'll go with the 512 package, and if worst comes to worst, i'll just buy an extra 1gb stick
