This may be a stupid question but I don't know a lot about video cards. I have a HP media center PC that is an AMD Athlon 64 X2/4200 with 2gb of ram and a 300gb hard drive. Now I know that this has a free PCI/E slot in it but will this card be compatible with it. Also is my CPU too weak for it to be worth the cost if I even can install it? Thanks for any help you guys can give me I would appreciate it very much!

There is no stupid questions here. :D  Yes it will work with your system. Your cpu will be ok with a 8800gts. If you either get 8800 gts or gtx you will need to upgrade your psu.

Erm isn't the question whether the card fits in his mobo slot? Doesn't the 8800 need a x16 slot? That spare slot might not even be a gfx card slot he's talking about btw

What gfx card have you currently got in your PC?

Currently that spot is free because my videocard is intergrated into my motherboard. So all I need is a free pci-e slot? The motherboard will be compatible? Also how will my performance be compared to like a new intel processor a huge differance?
