I was having exactly the same problem and a quick google of the error brought me here. Solved my first problem straight off, thanks a lot :)

Also, I just change the boot options in the BIOS to only look on HDD and ignore everything else. If I ever want to boot from CD again I'll change the BIOS :)

I have the same problem. I'm trying to install Chipset on my new pc.. and if it gets stuck in the middle of this, it doesnt install it!
I'm a real computer retard, and I dont understand this :
"Changed first boot to hd and problem goes away."- what exactly did you do? Please explain step by step...? Thanks

Okay, when your rebooting the computer, you need to press DEL, (As soon as it reboots, therefore when you pressed DEL the BIOS screen should pop up) After it pops up, you need to find "Primary boot drive" And change it from CD-ROM to HardDrive

Isn't there a way to recover the bios from the support CD?
I inserted the CD and clicked on ASUS Install - Driver Instillation Wizard.
The wizard ran for a while and the pc attempted to restart.
Then a DOS mode screen came up saying 'Bad or missing command interpreter. Enter the full shell command line.'
What am i supposed to enter???

Nothing, All you have to do is remove your acer cd-rom from your diskdrive. Now reboot one more time.

I'M NOT HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.

MY PROBLEM IS IGNORANCE.

I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH INSTALLING THE 'RIGHT' SOFTWARE
E.G. A DOS 6,22 COMMAND.COM INTERPRETER !

I HAVE [ SEVERAL TIMES ] INSTALLED THE 3 FLOPPY DISK SET " DOS 622 "
FOR THE DOS OPERATING SYSTEM WITHOUT A MOUSE AND CANDY-ASS WINDOWS.

I EVEN HAVE A START-UP DISK !

BUT THE SAME RESULT IS " YOU AINT GOT NO COMMAND.COM INTERPERTER"

''''IF YOU KNOW IT'S NAME E.G. 'COMMAND.COM'
TYPE IT IN AND PRESS ENTER.

ALSO YOU SHOULD KNOW || I DO NOT DO DRUGS ||

THANK YOU PHIL
