I just bought a netgear 16 port rackmountable FS516 switch off of ebay for $7 plus $10 shipping (used but works perfectly).

Netgear stuff is pretty decent.

if all you need is a pretty basic unmanaged switch something like a FS524 or JFS524 would be pretty decent.

if your feeling lucky you might look on eba cause you can get some pretty good deals.

(watch out for counterfiet cisco stuff ... and Unsupportable / EOL managed switches however.)

but it sounds like you don't really want a managed switch anyway?

I would recommend a D-Link 24 port switch model #DES-1226G. It runs about $135 here in the US. It is web manageable and has 2 gigabit/SFP ports in case your party grows. If you can't get that on your budget there are a ton of D-Link, Netgear, Linksys, etc. products to fit your price and goal. They all will be an upgrade from your 10-base hub.

It is the same price as one 24 port switch.

Any thoughts?
