Which version to buy

My old dell kicked the bucket. As a student, I can get a killer deal on Windows 7 Professional Upgrade. I am building a new PC. My question is this. Can I use the Windows XP code on the side of my dead dell for Windows 7 upgrade on my new machine? Or do I need to choose between retail and the system builder versions?

The sticker on the side of your old PC is for an OEM version of Windows that's not transferrable to another computer. When you buy a new machine you would normally get an OEM version of Windows 7 with it.
