i just put together my new computer and am using it as i write this...but my Hard Drive keeps bothering me

it is noisy and seems to be quite slow...btw it is an OEM Western Digital 160GB SATA II...anyways, before it possibly dies, i was wondering if there are any good/free programs out there that could somehow test/diagnose my drive to see if i need to be looking for a replacement before it goes Kaput...

i have Hard Drive Inspector, but it seems rather light on the options and info it provides

so, anyone have any advice or ideas?

Try eventvwr.exe from the command line, any errors coming from SMART would register in the system logs. And would have some forensics in the Event Logs.

Western Digi offers it's on Win32\64 and DOS based diag apps, check the site for those tools as well as proper mobo configs.
