So, what is the best CURRENT 15 incher??
The Eizo 375, Samsung 151P/151T or the NEC 1550X…or any other u would recommend.
Prerequisites:
1- Current technology….( not gonna wait for FFD )
2- Dual analog and DVI
3- Black or grey available
4- Response time ~ 25ms-30ms….(more than occasional gaming)
5- Viewing angles >150
6- Good contrast
7- Couple of good reviews…

I would say Eizo 375.

I just want to warn about some specs.
Maybe I remember wrong, but isn't the L375 dual DVI? Anyway the L365 is a DVI/d-sub combo, and the picture is the same, but you do not get USB, and you have to adjust the display with the knobs on the front (with L375 you can do it with software too).
Viewing angels are not a standardised spec - one 140¤ monitor may have higher useable viewing angels than another 150¤ monitor.

feel free to enlighten me on any other models u see fitter.....
the ones i listed are just what i crossed over...actually i was in love with the Compaq 5030...almost put my order thru...but then the review by Tom made me think...and also flame's bad experience with the 7020....

I have an old Eizo CRT, that I was happy about, and Eizo is often talked of as a good brand, so I just went for it, and bought a L365.

The L365 and L375 are essentially the same monitor- they have the same panel. Maybe u ought to go w/ the L365, as it is cheaper, and u can get it very cheap from dell. The NEC is good, but haven't had any experience w/ it. Same w/ the samsungs, the 152T seems nice, but then again we have debated over PVA.

If you notice I try not to make specific product recommendations in these forums. I’m very biased. Your prerequisites are going to be hard to match. Also I tend not to recommend black or gray bezels due to the negative ergonomic affects they can cause. I do not to recommend LCD’s for games and you say (more than occasional gaming).

Finding good objective reviews especially two of them is almost impossible.

I will say that Eizo is well respected in the industry, however I also tell all my customers that no matter what monitor they buy, call and e-mail the manufactures tech support line. This will give you a sense for how they will treat you after you purchase should you need them. If you sit on hold for a long time or get no response from an e-mail consider another company.

I have a question for you. I know that a black monitor doesn't have good ergonomics, but what about the surrounding area; if the bureau is black as well. Does that affect anything?

When TCO did the ergonomics study and set the regulations for TCO-99 I doubt they considered the background used. You can find more information on how they test at http://www.tcodevelopment.com/


Standards organizations such as TCO cannot test for every environment possible. They can only test the one thing that is guaranteed to stay the same, and that is the unit itself.


It is a known fact that the environment you use the monitor in will influence the ergonomics and may or may not be a contributor to eyestrain.
