I want to build a new pc, i've decided pretty much what I want, but I can't decide if I should choose a cheaper video card with an asus p5b deluxe or should I go with a cheaper mobo and buy a 8800 gts??

I will be playing games, ripping, and all that.

future specs:
intel e6400
1gig ddr2 800 (for future dual channel)
antec neohe550

Now the question is: should I go with the asus p5b deluxe with the ati x1950xt for now, or go with a cheaper mobo and buy the 8800GTS?

thanks for suggestions

To me, the motherboard is the most important decision when building. It's easy to upgrade video cards.

A good motherboard should last a few years relatively speaking. If it was me, I would put the money into the motherboard. Not too mention that the 8800's are the first gen DX10 cards. They will only get better.

Fully agree, your mainboard is the backbone of your pc.Do not skimp on this. Graphics card can always be upgraded in the future

You can go for something like a Gigabyt DS3, and 8800GTS.

Mobo has no impact on gaming, so 8800GTS + "cheaper" mobo will result in better gaming performance than X1950XT + P5B Deluxe or "more expensive" mobo.
