Do any satellite or cable TV companies provide their HDTV set-top
receiver with a deal of 6-month or 12-month subscription to own
it for free? I'm thinking about doing that for only 6 months or
12 months then start using the box to get OTA HD? Never again a
monthly fee! A good idea?

Some companies, such as Voom, disable the OTA decoder when you stop
subscribing...no free lunch.
