Ok I have the ultimate "only thing that matters is the video card" question
My friend is getting a new video card and I still want to stay ahead. My video card sux.
I have:
A64 x2 4200@2.3ghz
2048MB DDR2-533 Dual Chanel
250 gig SATA
PNY 6600 393core/540mem PCI-E
His
P4 HT 2.6 Northwood
1024MB DDR-400 Single Channel
80 GIG UDMA
XFX 7600 GS 400core/700mem AGP
Do I have a chance at all?
I am getting an 8600 ULTRA in March so if he is ahead it wont be for long.

I don't even know if he'll be ahead lol.
The 7600GS is a really low end card and his P4 is a really low end CPU. The AMD64 Socket 939's destroyed the P4's back in the day and they're still competitive cards now.
You also have a Dual Core X2 which is a much better CPU than the P4.
Your 6600 should bench-mark higher.
Don't jump the gun and buy a video-card now just to beat him. Wait it out til the 8600 Ultra and 8900GT comes out, to see what's better for the money.
Your system might just be better than his even now.
In gaming, he'll see better performance due to the video card. Your system overall is better, better CPU, RAM etc. Once you upgrade your video card, you'll smoke his.
