I currently have the Sennheiser PC 150 and get great sound with them on my old system. Now building a new one with Creative X-FI extremegamer and look to upgrade the headset. I like Sennheiser and will probably stick with them. The two I am looking at are the HD280 and the HD 555. The 555 is 10 buck more.

I will use these exclusively as I don't have an area to set up speakers. I play games, listen to some music and play some videos, DVD's etc.

1. Any comparison of the two headset's?

2. Is the upgrade from the 150's worth it?

3. Any other comment welcome.

For only 10 buck more, I would certainly go for the 555's. They are MUCH more comfortable, and they have slightly better sound. Although, on advantage that the 280's have over the 555's is that they are completely enclosed, and they have much better sound canceling properties. But if you are not going to be using them in a loud environment and you dont care about any sound leaking out of the headphones, then it is not even an issue.

Whether it is worth the money to upgrade from the 150's, you have to decide. If you have the money, I certianly would though.

I haven't used the 150 so I can't compare. I totally agree the 555 would be much more comfortable over a few hour period than the 280. I have the 595 and love them.

Thanks for the info. I'm in a quiet environment and no one to bother so this looks like the way I will go. There's quite abit of improvement over th 150's, spec wise, so I expect to hear a considerable difference.

I'd like to have the 595's, but they are outside of my budget, unfortunately. Also, all things being equal, comfort is a big plus.

I don't know if this post is too late, but the 555's I have are incredible. Many review sites say there is little perceptible difference between the 555 and 595's. The 555s are like a fine wine; the bass just gets better with time. Once the headband stretches a bit they are hands down the most comfortable headphones I've ever owned.
