Anyone had success OC'ing a 680i board and C2D?

I recently bought an eVGA 680i board and a a C2D E6400, I had never overclocked before, so I followed the manual's guide to overclocking which result in nothing more than my PC not booting up at all, all I did there mess with the voltage and multiplier.

Since I've never OC'ed before, is all I have to do increase the clock speed, FSB and bus speed? I already have cooling taken care of, but if someone could perhaps point me in the right direction to a guide specific for that board and hardware, that would be amazing.

use wusy's c2d oc guide (sticky in cpu/oc section), use memtest86, orthos and/or prime95 (dual instances) to test stability

I've found this while doing some research to find a way to OC my eVGA 680i board and it does help me. Wusy OCing guide only applies to boards with Intel P965X chipset, not NVidia chipset.
