Sounds like your system is underclocking to prevent damage (85c is extremely high). You probably messed up install of your heatsink. You need to make sure that it is making firm contact with the heatspreader on your CPU.

so u suggest that i remount the heat sink?? (stock) and what would u suggest i do this time to install right?

What temp monitor? Are you looking at the tjunction point?

Reply to Wonderwill

Well, I've never done installation on C2D HSF but I've heard you have to press pretty hard to get everything to snap into place. So, you might want to just try pushing on it a bit to see if you have any obvious "play" on the heatsink.

Well seeing that your Ghz and vcore are jumping around it probably is a fan problem. Are you using the stock fan or 3rd party? I got a Masscool fan for my E6600 and it used a backplate w/screws, so I don't know how the snap-on ones work. Did you use thermal paste?

Reply to Wonderwill

If he's using stock HSF it came with thermal paste on it.

BTW, this post might/might not help you:
