Using two PSU's in one system?

I've seen a few cases where users are putting two PSU's in one system, quite a few cases on the market have space for two....here is a great example: Venturi's rig on nV News
Man that system is killer! 8O

Anyhow, my question is, how do you interface the 20/24pin ATX and the 4/8pin CPU connections from two PSUs? Can you splice the leads from each PSU into the single onboard header? Will this provide additional stability for OCing etc? If splicing the two together is not an option, how does the second PSU get it's turn on signal?

Any thoughts?
