Can someone please tell me what an active matrix LCD is, a passive matrix LCD is, and a dual scan LCD is? How they differ, how each works, and which is preferred? Thanks!

Panel display technology is explained here

(otherwise "google" your keywords)

If your are looking for a LCD-Monitor, the current technology is AMLCD (=active matrix liquid crystal display, sometimes referred to as a-Si TFT). Usually test sites have the relevant terms explained.
