It seems that there are two different sized Socket F cooling types. If I were you I'd try ebay or perhaps a major retailer who sells QuadFX systems and try and order two stock fans (they're pretty decent).

The problem is, they didn't come with the stock fans or I would def. just use those.
Hmmm!. First AMD starts packaging them singly(contrary to what they said, and now they're shipping them without HS/F's. What's next?...no warranty. :?

When I said "I just recently acquired"... I meant it literally. I recieved these as exchange for work done for somonee. Don't get me wrong, they were brand new, but he got them OEM.

OK. Like someone suggested go to a site that sells QFX systems and they shoul dhave at least one that will work.

Vigor doesn't have anything.... I called.

Also I called AMD to see if I can buy a stock fan and heatsink and they flatout told me they couldn't help being that it was OEM.

You can also try www.monarchcomputer.com. or www.ABS.com.

If those fail try www.pricewatch.com

The only sink I know of that will fit the FX-74 and its motherboard (3.5" spacing) is the Dynatron A86G. It will also fit almost all Socket F Opterons as well. However, it's supposed to be pretty loud...that might be a turn-off.

Asus L1N64-SLI is compatible with AM2 coolers

hereis a guy using it with dual tuniq towers

and here is one with dual zalman cnps9700 s, taken somewhere from the same forums

what I don't know is, whether the board can carry ~1.5-2 kg coolers if attached vertically.

I think Socket 940 and AM2 HSFs already fit socket F. But you'll need a backplate specific for socket F - one should have come with the Asus board.

That motherboard better be made of reinforced concrete to support that kind of weight. Not to mention you'll need one hell of a tough case to hold it up. And don't even get me started on the mounting screws...

I think if you even try to put this into a tower case without using steel girders to support the weight of the coolers, you're gonna be looking at a fragged motherboard. This kind of cooling monstrosity requires the return of the desktop case!!!

Hehehe...looks like a friggin' 2 cylinder motorcycle engine sitting there. :D Where's the tranny?

Yippee! I can finally combine two of the three great loves of my life: Motorcycles and PCs. :)

Sorry to seem rude, I am just re-hijacking my post back since well, I have $1800 worth of computer parts coming in the mail, and a $1200 processor and motherboard and no fan/heatsink to run any of it.

Well, well, well... so the OP has the chutzpah to ask for his own thread back! :D

My bestestestest advice is: See Post 17. Duplicate that. You can't do much better on air than twin Tuniq 120s!!!

Well, Dynatron does make a 3.5" version of it's Opteron Socket F heatsink, only problem is everyone is complaining about how unbelievably loud just one will be, two are gonna be quite amazing.
