I own two major boards I am considering overclocking. The ASUS P5W64 and the ASUS P5WDG2-WS-PRO. The 975x on both of these boards is adequately cooled via heatpipes. The other chips ICH7R which they both have in common and the IDT-89HA0324 on the P5W64, and the 6702PXH on the P5WDG2 are the ones in question. In overclocking, will these benefit from adding active cooling to the heatsinks or adding say the heatpipe cooler for MB chipsets from thermaltake.

Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks!

Assuming u are grounded, touch one chip at a time with the back of your index finger, not the front of it; your fingertips are not sensitive enuf.

U know what to do if it feels hot.

do u need advice on how to ground yourself?

touch the back of ur running computer with both hands on bare metal, count to 10 slowly, dont touch any fans or usb ports.
