Installed security patch on IE 5.01 sp3 (832894, ms04-
004). Now the links under "See also" section inside my
computer window, for my computer, my network places, and
my documents do not work. They used to work like weblinks
and take me to it. Now they just give an error:

Cannot find 'file:///::%(long alpha-numeric number)%7d.'
Make sure the path or Internet address is correct.

Not sure what else to do. Virusscan not picking up
anything.

any ideas?

This may be worth a try. Go into control panel/add and remove programs. You can
uninstall the hotfix and reboot to see if that solves the problem. If it does, you
can try to reinstall it but make sure you close all your applications and startup
programs such as antivirus, personal firewall, etc. Of course do not connect to the
internet without a firewall. You could download the patch, then unload your firewall
[if using one] and then disconnect from the internet . --- Steve
