When I start up windows 2000 pro, it prompts me with a
pagefile message "low" or "not found"..
is there a way to setup the pagefile size other than
through windows? maybe dos?

The most likely explanation is that you removed permissions from either the
pagefile.sys file or from the root of the drive to the SYSTEM account.

Ensure the SYSTEM account has at least write/modify permissions to this
file.
