Asked a question not so long ago about upgrading my current Geforce 6800 AGP card and people said about either a Geforce 7800 series or an ATI x1950.
Done a bit of reading myself and am quite tempted by the Geforce 7600GT as this performs almost as well as a 7800 series card but at a lot lower price.
System specs below:-
Abit NF7s V1.2 & AMD Athlon 3.0GHz CPU at stock speeds (Nforce2 chipset).
2x 512Mb Corsair PC3200's at stock settings.
Asus 9999 Geforce 6800 256Mb AGP graphics card.
FSP Sparkle 400w 400-60PFN PSU - 15.0A on +12v rail
Seagate 320Gb 7200.10 IDE HD.
Pioneer 16x DVD-RW & Pioneer 16x DVD-ROM.
Windows XP Pro SP2.
Do you think it's worth the upgrade from my current Geforce 6800 to a 7600GT ????? Seen the Leadtek PX7600 GT TDH or the Gainward 7600GT Bliss Golden Sample for about £110 and then hopefully sell my current 6800 for some money.
Didn't really want to go to the Geforce 7800 / ATI x1950 series because I would probably need to change my PSU to cope with the higher power demands of these cards and that would mean more expense.
The plan is to get a better VGA card and get another 1-2 years use out of my system before I get a whole new rig.

I don't think you will get 2 years out of a 7600. If you re serious about getting 2 years out of your current rig then a 1950 is your best bet. That being said I must voice my opinion that you are throwing away any money you spend on AGP...but that's just my opinion.
The X1950 Pro would have been your best bet if you had at least an Athlon 64. Athlon XPs are pretty much useless for newer games these days, especially with many dual/quad core optimized games coming out this year. Slapping in a newer video card in that system is akin to putting a band-aid on a gunshot wound. It won't get you far.
is there a reason that you want to change the card is your games too slow or is it you need the extra power to get better online play. I have both 6800ge asus with a 805, and a 7800gs bfg, really there is an fps difference online but single player cant really tell the difference. If you can get the use of the 6800 do so but if you really want something for online play the 7600 oc'ed will improve your gameplay online and not really benifit from the pricy 7800. I'd stick with the 6800 at this point but if you can get the 7600 for not bad of a price get it. Had to add that the 6800ge is still playing everything and not too bad of online play
