Hi all, my dad's computer crapped out and now I have a reason to take the plunge and try to build a new computer. I've been browsing the forums here quite a bit and was hoping for some expert guidance, or at least mass guidance. I will be using this mostly for online games and some FPS. I want to also try overclocking because of all I hear about it. Here's what I have so far:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Conroe 1.86GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6300 $187.00

NEC Black 18X DVD±R Burner With 12X DVD-RAM Write - $28.99

Look OK? I thought the RAM was really expensive and was hoping perhaps someone could recommend an alternative. Actually, now that I think about it, if I could get suggestions on alternate parts that would lower the overall cost to approximately $800...

Personally I don't like the case you have chosen, it looks pretty, but it also looks like a pain in the ass to deal with, and is probably loud.

You could go with PC5400 and save some money there, you would see a performance decrease, but not that great.

If you plan on getting a DX10 card in the not so distant future, buy a 7300GT card for about 60 bucks to hold you over till then

Cutthroat's right - An friend of mine has an X-cruiser he ordered through Cyberpower, and the thing is loud, rambunctuous, and utterly made of poor worksmanship.

Check out the NZXT Apollo for a solid yet awesome looking case.
