What is Port 1031 BBN IAD used for on Windows 2000? A port
scan on one of our DNS server's shows this port besides
53. What service uses 1031? Is it required by W2k or is it
a security hole?
Help appreciated.

I don't know offhand but I suggest that you use TCPView and Process Explorer from
SysInternals to find out. TCPView will show what open ports map to what
process/executable while Process Explorer will give great detail on the process if
you explore all the properties options and can tell exactly what services are using a
particular instance of svchost. --- Steve
