I'm not sure how to do this in Win2000, we just got 3 new computers running win2000 that we are using as audio editing stations and I have the pleasure of setting them up. After performing all Windows updates the IS Admin requested I turn off all unnecessary services like web services, FTP, etc. They will be connected to the internal network so I need TCP/IP.
Do I do this through TCP/IP filtering? Or is there an easyer way?

In Control Panel-->Add/Remove Programs-->Add/Remove Windows Components,
remove the check-mark next to "Internet Information Services". (If your
Windows 2000 media has Service Pack 4 pre-applied to it, IIS will be turned
off by default.)

Hi Chris,
Is this PC Windows 2000 server or professional.
I assume it is a server since default installation will also add IIS
service. Now you have few options. One is to disable IIS service (Right
click on My Computer > Manage > Services and Applications > Services > here
look for IIS Admin service and set it to disabled. Also set to disabled SMTP
service, FTP service, World Wide Web Service.
The other option is to simply uninstall IIS Services. To do this go to
Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components > here
look for Internet Information Service IIS and remove check mark next to it.
I hope this helps,
Mike

Hi,
on Windows 2000 Pro, IIS is not installed by default. You actually have to
chose it from menu to install. You can still go over my previous post and
double check if it is installed and if necessary remove it.
