Overclocking FX60 by changing frequency or multiplier

I recently had stability issues with my pc from increasing the external frequency thru Asus AI booster by 10%. Windows would not load and it looked as if I had an underpowered psu at 535w, so I bought a Silverstone 850w psu and installed it but Windows still didn't load. Once I changed the FX60 back to default settings Windows would load.
My question is, can a FX60 be clocked better by changing the multiplier instead of frequency settings and shouldn't I be able to reach a speed of at least 3.0 without stability problems?

its unlocked so do it by multiplier which will in turn increase the FREQUENCY

only Intels benefit from a higher fsb
