I'm about 6 months from a full system rebuild but I ran out of HD space... completely. So, to be able to use the drive I buy now in my future system, I bought a nice 500 GB SATAII drive w/ a cheap SATA (not II) pci adapter.
My question is this... performance wise... am I better off using a small (say 50 gb) partition on the SATA drive through the PCI adapter for the OS/Apps partition or stick with a freshly formatted new install on the original ATA/133 drive (60gb drive)?
Its only temporary, but i do play games and edit digital photos so even a little performance boost in the storage area would be welcomed.
thanks,
