Hello!

This'll be the first time I'll be building a computer and also the first time I'll be overclocking.

I'll be running an E4300 for overclocking purposes. First off, generally, how far can I get without using memory divider? How about without messing with the voltages?

Video card-wise I'm looking for something that'll do decent for the time being however I can upgrade to a DX10 card when the prices begin to fall more. I've been playing with the idea of the $130 recertified 7800GT.

I'll be getting Windows Vista Home Premium. What is the difference between the 32bit and the 64bit?

Keyboard, mouse, and monitor are needed in the build.

Here is what I have lined up currently.

the diff tween the 32 bit and the 64 bit? well for one thing MS has a special upgrade so that ur OS notices that ur CPU is 64 bit to work properly with it. Without that special upgrade then ur pc with a 64 bit cpu and 64 bit os will be running at 32 bit.

Taking a look at the old days of thinking...in 1984 an 80286 cpu was suppose to be able to address a 16 bit block of bits because it was a 16 bit cpu.

a 32 bit cpu is suppose to address a 32 bit long block of bits.

a 64 bit cpu is suppose to address a 64 bit long block of bits.

But there are many other things that affect this addressing such as speed of the CPU, front side bus speed and memory speed.

back in the days of PC 133 memory, it was thought that if u matched ur mem speed to your CPU speed and fsb speed then u would have an optimally efficient system. However, this theorem doesn't work anymore with current technology.

The Scythe Ninjas are well-matched to the Core 2 Duo lineage.

I think I'll go with the 64-bit OS in that case.

If I wanted to outspeed the pricey E6700 should I go with the E6300 or the E4300? I'll try and pull a fairly modest 333 FBS speed out of it but I'll definitely settle for 300. I've heard something along the lines that the 2MB cache runs it at aboug 2-4% slower so at roughly a 300 FBS will I be seeing something with performance around an E6700?

Will the ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler be enough?

Is the GIGABYTE GA-965P-S3 LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard be sufficient?

Hm. With the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro would I be able to jump straight into 333 clock speed zone and hit my 2.99ghz speed?

If you were to give an estimate, about how long could that chip hold out at that speed?

Reply to SanjiWatsuki

I believe so.

An estimate...subjectively, it will be stable enough for near all-time usage.
