Hello everyone,

I want to get back to basics my understanding of over/clocking was to get the best performance for the cheapest price, but when i started to look around this didnt seem to be the case. All expensive Mobos, CPUs and ram. Now I do not have the money to spend on the best of the best so i've decided on this set up:

Gigabyte DS3 + E4300 + DDR2 667 Ram (2GB)

My question is what sort of resulting overclock can i hope to get using DDR2 667 Ram.

Thanks for the help!

Vic.

Core2 E4300 FSB = 200 Mhz x 4 QuadPumped = 800 Mhz
DDR2 667 Mhz = 333 Mhz x 2

Therefore setting 1:1 FSB/DRAM ratio you could put the E4300 with a 333 Mhz x 4 = 1333 Mhz bus

That will leave the processor in 333 Mhz x 9 (Default multiplier for E4300) = 3.0 Ghz

That is if everytinhg else works flawlessly cooling/mobo/psu and voltage selection in the motherboard bios.

All of this is in theory go step by step. check the manuals here in how to overclock. :)

i'll get some OCZ Platinum Rev2 DDR2 - 800 it's not much more and it'll make it more upgradable.
