Hello,

I have read and reread all the virus stuff regarding the
above. Cl&ose

I have clean the server and it did find worms and it was
cleaned up.

but my server is still not allowing me to:

Add/Remove
Drop/Drag
run search
view event viewer

is there any way to repair this without rebuilding the
stupid thing?

Windows 2000 SP4

thank you,

Koz

Hi Koz.

Hard to say. Two things worth trying that should not take too much time are to run
System File Checker as in sfc /scannow and resetting local security settings to
default defined levels using secedit as described in the link below.

If that does not help an in place upgrade install may be worth a try. That should
preserve your data and applications but require that you first reinstall the service
pack and then all critical updates. A reinstall would be the safest option as far as
restoring integrity and functionality but that is your call. If you have any EFS
encrypted files be sure to decrypt them before doing a total reinstall or have backup
EFS private keys available. --- Steve
