Hi folks,
To become an Arcane Archer one must learn first grade arcane arts (sorry if
this isn't hte right word, I'm from Germany).
Question is: Where to learn arcane arts?
Thanks in advance

Take a level in wizard, sorcerer or bard (is that right?).

Best wishes
Maxon

Arcane Arts is magic as practiced by wizards, Sorcerers and Bards.
You must have one level of wizard or sorcerer to be able to become an
Arcane Archer. Bard also works but it requires a higher level because
they can't cast spells at level 1.

All it really means is you must be able to cast level 1 "arcane type"
spells.

The only real complication is that this limits the possible combinations
since in-game you can only have 3 classes and two of them are locked
down by arcane archer and the magic pre-req.

NWN only requires one level of bard, even though, technically, 1st level
bards don't qualify.

Pick your starting class Ie, Fighter, then pick 1 arcane level in Wizard,
Sorcerer. A few difrentAA builds as examples are:

Fighter/Wiz/AA
Bard/RDD/AA
Bard/Barb/AA
Rogue/Wiz/AA

It is true that you can pick any of Wizard, Sorcerer, or Bard, but
since you are an Elf or Arcane Archer would not be open to you, picking
Wizard makes more sense; it is your prefered class, and allows you to
progress normally in your other class.

IIRC, you can specialize in one archane class until you open up AA, no
need for a third class.

I did a rogue/wiz/aa game, and I found the aa to be weak; I found
plenty of magic arrows, and the benefit of cheap +1's was not a big
deal. As a rogue, I got sneak attack with bows, and that counted for
more; I think in my case, the extra levels were better spent on rogue
for better sneak attack damage or wizard for flat out better spells.

Except that an Arcane Archer's Enhance Arrows ability stacks with magic
arrows, so that a normal +3 arrow, fired by a tenth-level Arcane Archer,
is effectively a +8 arrow.

Different strokes. I like sniping in NWN, but I have not found it
effective to depend upon a bow.

True but most builds go for at least enough levels of Fighter to p/u Wpn
Spec. You do know + arrows stack with your AA enchant arrow skill right?.
Heh wait till you see what a 20th level AA has for BAB and damager
inflicted, add Rouge to that and damage becomes insane 8), as long as you
have a good meats sheild and target is not immune to SA 8).

Also if your into archers I'd sugest checking out the PRC @
http://nwnprc.netgamers.co.uk/

This adds the Archer, Peerless archer, Blood archer etc , as well as feats,
Ie, Ranged sneak attack, Power shot, Many shot, Perfect shot, Killing shot
etc. My current chara is an Elf Bard/AA/Peerless Archer.

NWN, so only three classes, max.

Arcane archer is the goal.

Requires an arcane caster level.

If you take fighter, that is your third class choice.

That means you are a ftr/wiz/aa, a ftr/sorc/aa, or a ftr/bard/aa.

(Unless you throw in some custom class from left field that breaks the
rulebase)

Those choices are OK, if that's what floats your boat, but there are
plenty of other class mixes of value.

Unless you've broken the paradigm, levels of rogue are a non-issue for
your fighter build toward arcane archer.
