First boot device SATA IDE with add-on card

I have not built my system yet, but I think I am going to have problems.

I have a mix of SATA and IDE harddrives
And since my MB supports 4 SATA and 2 IDE I had to add a promise SATA/IDE card.

I would like my first boot device to be my SATA raptor drive, running direct from the MB.

Any problem with this?

If you have a SATA/IDE controller card, the computer is going to want to boot from that. Most likely you will not be able to boot from the motherboard. At least that is my experience.

Shouldn't be a problem. Modern BIOSes have the capability to swap the boot order around. You'll just put the extra card later in the boot order, an put the motherboard SATA drive first.
