1 pata on mobo, want to install pata drive

I want to take an pata drive out of an external enclosure and mount it internally. I already have a dvd burner on the single pata slot of my mobo. The problem is that the 3.5 inch rails are on the bottom and the dvdrw is on the top, so I can't physically have both connected.

Besides getting an new pata controller, what are my options?

Get a pata controller board, if you place the HD on the same pata channel as a CD/DVD, youll lose alot of preformance to the hard drive.

Never chain a HD and optical drive on same pata/ide channel
