Hello all,

A friend of mine is looking at buying this TV. I have a Sony that I love,
but he doesn't want to spend that kind of money. The Akai is on sale for
899.00.
Looking at the specs it appears that it is native 1080i and so therefore
will have to upconvert to 720p. Is that correct ? Also it's said to be a
HDTV monitor so I assume that means no built in tuner.

Is anyone out there using this TV ? I'd love some opinions, bad or good, to
pass on to my friend. How does regular OTA look on this TV ? Do the
stretch modes do a good job of filling the screen without making it appear
overly distorted ?

Thanks all,

Duke

Link to forum with a lot of talk about the set your thinking of buying.
Since these are made by Samsung you could compair it to their 42" model for
ideas of customer satisfaction. The Samsung has DVI while this set has VGA
input, both unit sell for about the same amount. Not a bad set for the
price, got the Samsung which I almost rreturned but with some adjustment
it's good for a budget set.
