ASUS Vintage PE1 barebones

Since this barebones uses the P5S800 motherboard, why do they have different BIOS'es? I am having issues with this thing locking up on me sometimes at boot, sometimes just during use with nothing really going on..

Here's the current config:

Asus Vintage-PE1 P4 Micro Tower Barebone System

Maxtor DiamondMax 10 6L200S0 200GB Serial ATA (1.5Gb/s) 7200RPM Hard Drive w/16MB Buffer

Intel Pentium® D Processor 820 2.8GHz, 800MHz FSB, Socket 775, 2x1MB Cache, Dual Core Retail

Corsair VS512MB400 512MB DDR400 PC3200 CAS2.5 Value Select Memory Retail

WinXP SP2 (had mediacenter, but re-installed a newer version of just plain old xp/sp2)
