I have a few Netgear FVS-338 routers used with ADSL for site to site VPN. They are also used with the Netgear VPN software. They work fine but I have had problems with 3 units recently. When the power fails the routers revert back to the default username/password and the VPN policies stop working. The router will reconnect to the ADSL service, the problem is just with the username/password and the VPN policies. The policies are still there and look OK, but they do not work.

I have to re-enter the password, delete all VPN policies and then recreate them to fix the problem. It will then work fine until the next power failure (or controlled power down). I spoke to Netgear and had one unit replaced but the new one has the same problem. I am running the latest firmware.

Anyone else with this problem? Surely they can not be meant to work this way?
