This is a first time build:

Case: Antec Sonata II 450W Mid Tower
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13GHz
CPU Fan: ZALMAN CNPS9500 AT 2 Ball CPU Cooling Fan
MB: ASUS P5B-E
Memory: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD3200KS 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s
Video Card: XFX 7600GS 256 Meg 2 DVI PCIE Fanless Video Card

When I try to power up the LED on the board lights but nothing happens when the power switch is pushed. No fans no nothing.

I have tried removing all PCI cards, disconnected power from everything, removed 1394 and usb connections checked memory seating. I tried shorting the power switch pins with a screw driver. All with the same result. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve

I have a similar setup (motherboard, case and CPU). I had the same problem as you have. The problem was the Antec Sonata power supply. The 5VSB was not 5V but around 2.75 to 3.25 V. I replaced the Power supply and everything went well.

I measured the 5VSB on the header pin for the PS2 keyboard standby power jumper or at the power standby for the USB.

I have a new power supply ordered. Hopefully this will solve the problem. It seems that a lot of people are having the same problem with the Sonata/Antec combo.

Thanks,
Steve
