I'm looking to get the C2D E6400 Conroe 2.13GHz 2M shared L2 Cache LGA 775, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to a good motherboard that would work well with the processor. I plan to do gaming ie Oblivion/WoW/NWN2, but don't want to pay an arm and a leg for something that will work.

Arms and legs come in different prices, what's your flavor? I would recommend the Asus P5B Deluxe, but a lot of posters on this site would equally favor the Gigabyte DS3. Depends on if you like arms or legs.

Well in that case if you're looking for a basic mobo that supports Core 2 Duo, and you don't want to spend too much, get a 945P board such as this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813130059

OK, but will it still allow me to play the games I want without any problem?

Or do motherboards not contribute much to power/graphics intensive games?

Yup, will allow you to play games fine. It's a perfectly capable motherboard - just doesn't have as many bells and whistles as more expensive ones.
