new PC for about $1500

Hey guys, after many eyars of buying pre-built systems i am finally ready to build my own computer. I have built a few computers before, so i know what i'm doing, but never overclocked anything. However, i will probably be looking into that in the future. Anyways, here is my current rig:

Dell Optiplex 170L

unkown crappy mobo without agp or pci-e
P4 (2.8 GHz)
Geforce FX5200 256mb PCI
1GB DDR PC3200 RAM
100Gb PATA HDD

so yea. My rig has finally hit the bottom. New games like company of heroes are completely unplayable on it. So if you guys had $1500 and this rig, what would you get?

If that 1.5K also includes a Monitor/Speakers/Accesories, then wait until the Mid Range DX10 Comes out.


And isn't Optiplex a dell blade server?XD

oh, sorry. i guess i forgot some things. First of all i DONT need a monitor/keyboard/mouse or any other peripherals. Also, i am planning on building my new rig sometime before i go off to college in the fall. So any info on new tech that will be comming out would be appreciated. For example, any guesses on the price of a 8600ultra?

You should really call back in the summertime - Technology, as we all should know, follows Moore's law.....A half a year ~ 30% faster stuff.
