However there is no output to the monitor, i have tried other gfx cards and they work so somthing is definately wrong with the new card.
I have reseated the card so many times i could do it in my sleep with one hand.
The only thing i think of is a.) the card is broken or b.) ive missed somthing so mind numbing simple during the install that i should be banned from ever building a pc again. (yes, i did remember to power the card.)
The gfx card has 2 DVI outputs whereas the monitor has no DVI inputs. I have tested another d-sub monitor that doesnt work either. However both monitors DO work on the DVI out on my other PC with a DVI to D-sub converter.
Does anyone have any ideas before i RMA this card??
Well if you:
1. Connected GPU to PSU (they require extra power cable as you already know)
2. Tried out both DVI outs
3. Jacking out then inserting and reconnecting the card again...
Then no, no ideas. Installing a graphics card isn't really something that reqiures quantum physics diploma. It's most likely broken, damadged in transit or somethin'...
Send it back.
I recall back in the days of the 6800, I think if you forgot to connect the power cable to the card, the card would still work but just operate at a much lower resolution and many of the features disabled.
I am not sure if this still apply with the current gen cards. My guess is the card is broken.
