Windows 7 SP1 random freezing

Hi,

I have a custom build computer Intel i7. It keeps on freezing up at random, most of the time i have seen that happen is when its idle for a while and when i RDP into the computer.

It freezes when I am watching a movie or something, but noting else is running in the background.

I can not pin point the hardware or the software that is causing this issue. Its not a blue death screen freeze but more like a screen freezes and I have to physically reset the computer.

So for I have changed the graphic card and my hard drives. But still running into the same random freeze.

Can some one help me to figure out what is the reason of this random freezes.

More about windows random freezing

    Could be a couple things.

    Might check your Event Viewer, Custom Views, Administrative Events to see if it is logging any specific event that could be related to this problem

    Also since you are using Win-7, run the Windows Memory Diagnostics from the recovery environment. Another choice to check your RAM is to download MemTest 86 +, burn it to a CD, and run it from your DVD before Windows starts.

    Since you have 16GB of RAM, and all 4 slots are used, it may be the Mem Controller needs a slight boost in voltage to handle all them.

    Could you please list the Model# or your Corsair RAM, and their specs (SPD)
    The data you present shows the RAM is running at 667 MHz, rather than the default 1333 MHz. This may be 1/2 the dual channel speed but the BIOS pages show the actual freq.

    Also check in the BIOS on the MIT page, advanced Memory section, and list the VccDIMM voltage and the freq (Auto, 8.00. 10.66, 13.33 etc)
    Also please check the VccSA (System Agent Voltage). Default = .925v. When you populate all 4 RAM sockets, this may have to be increased ever so slightly.

    I looked into the event viewer and found this event right before the computer freezes.

    "The WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service service entered the stopped state."

    I was not able to pinpoint any particular application that was causing this error. But my RealVNC was the only application that was showing up at the same time when that error was recorded in the system.
