I have a recording studio at home with laptop, PC and Mac Pro.
A usb network would make my life so much easier so why is the hardware still not very popular?
I never see USB to USB network cables in the big PC stores.

Is there a problem with this setup?

15ft range is just fine for me.

Speed is one with the usb 1.0. 2.0 is faster but the damage is done.
To use usb with more than 3 computers your cable use goes way up.
Each computer would neec to be hooked up to each other. Using a hub would slow things down alot.
It just never really took off. USB is a shared pathway with mice, keyboards, printers, scanners, webcams, etc.
Good old rj-45 cable has been around longer then usb and already had the 'market'.
It would be easier to setup and maintain a normal network with a router or switch running gigabit than usb.

yeah that's the general deal with it, specially since gigabit came around, usb networking hasn't really taken off, it's costly and unstable at times, but ethernet has been around forever
