I can't believe what I'm still seeing. AMD boytoys fighting Intel Juggernaughts for supreme control of tha galaxy.. it's sad.

Lordpope, BaronMatrix and others.. seriously can it. Your posts are misleading and borderline lies. You quote only the numbers in your posts and not the actual reasons for those numbers.

You're both amateurs and not too bright either. I'm sick of coming on here and seeing your trash posted around THG. I'm all for opinions but all you do is SPAM the boards with this cr@p.

Now so peeps don't think I'm just picking on AMD fanboys this goes for those making outlandish statements regarding Intel as well. Please keep the discussions factual, exact and informative. This childish behaviour is one of the reasons why I don't frequent Toms as much as I used to.

Oh and yes.. I run an Intel processor in my main rig, got a problem with that? Then tell it to my 4 other AMD rigs.

Ok, but consider the source... this is someone that is fairly well known for starting threads with flame bait (similar to your thread, in fact). Have a little faith that the reader base here is not that stupid or naive. ;)

Ahhh my post isn't bait.. it's a flame all together. It's from a guy who's posted here quite frequently over the summer and who then left because of this garbage.

And the source is also whom I am attacking. I can & will post more often now. Each post being a direct counter-attack to this sort of viral infestation that has plagued Tom's for far too long.

Too many people are soo used to picking sides, whether it's politics (Democrat vs Republican) or Technology (Intel vs AMD) it's not the way to go. Support the product (if it's worth supporting) not the source (company). You'll find that this pragmatic approach will lead to a much happier, more informed and productive life.

Don't forget JumpingJack and his Intel paychecks! lmao, jkjk

Right now it would seem most of the fanboi problems regard 4x4 and K10 (formerly K 8 L).

Some people (read BaronMatrix and LordPope), love AMD so much that they have blinders on and only want to discuss how much AMD is going to kick butt and mislead people to think that AMD is the current performance leader.

These people call me an Intel fanboy, which is hillarious since my rig has an Opteron proc in it.

I agree with Elmo. I am getting frustrated with misleading posts. Such as:
K10 IS GUNNA BE 70% FASTER!1!

When it should have read:
K10 Quad-Core is rumored to be 70% faster than K8 Dual-Core in SOME applications

LordPope wanted us to read the title and get mislead to think that:
K10 is going to be 70% faster than Core 2 Quad

EXACTLY!

You nailed it. They purposely use their reputations as AMD/Intel nuts to post FUD. They make a post like K10 to be 70% faster.... but don't post to what the K10 is being compared too. That post should have read "K10 to be up to 70% faster then Dual Core Opteron"

Jumpingjack is VERY kowledgeable though. And he's not sidding with Intel because of a company preference but rather because the product is currently better. I've known Jack for a while and his knowledge is miles ahead of most.

Because although you would believe that users will read through the blinders it's not at all true. How many times have I seen some ridiculous statement being made in another forum with a link to one of LordPopes or BaronMatrix's posts as factual proof for that statement? I'll answer.. all too often.

It's annoying and I'm here to call on THG members to fight this crap. It DOES mislead people into making outlandish statements.. and yes, in the end buying inferior products for the money.

I agree completely, but I also think that you will not be able to change these people, nor will you be able to "protect" anyone else from their misguided posts. People make decisions on what to buy based on opinion at least as much as they do on "the facts". Swaying opinion is far harder that refuting incorrect "facts". And, yes, I think you know all of this already and no I don't think you're that stupid. :p

Fact is that many (most?) people do not come here to have their opinion swayed, the come here to fight for it. And this is unfortunate, because blind faith usually does not aid the follower as much as it aids those they believe in (like AMD or Intel, for instance).

So I guess I'm saying that attacking the "believers" just makes them into martyrs and hurts your apparent cause.

Baron Logic:

Performance benchmarks only matter if AMD wins them.

If AMD doesn't win in the benchmark just ask yourself if the processor is "fast enough" to run the applicaiton. If so, AMD wins.

An oldie but goodie:

BaronBS nLogic® is a unique technology that connects the real world with the unreal, developed by the greatest scientist, inovator and predictor BaronBS(the inventor of 4x4 also). It can be used in various areas of science, but its "dev", developed this technology to measure the performance and the quality of various computer hardware.

The benefit of this briliant method is that no benchmakrs of the hardware are needed, but you will always get the benchmark scores that you have always wanted from your hardware. BaronBS nLogic® is very powerfull technology that can make the life in your own world easier. It also can compensate for your unexplainable conclusions and your great lack of intelegnece and knowledge.

It's concept is very simple and is based on imagination. The amazing results are achieved in few steps:
Step 1: Ignore all facts, techical informations, logical explanations and arguments.
Step 2: Imagine that your hardware is the best and the fastest.
Step 3: Accept your wishes as reality and apply them to your real world.

BaronBS nLogic® is not perfect and is still in development by the greatest C# "dev" he has ever seen in the mirror. If you notice some contradictions with facts, arguments and logical explanations from reality, just repeat the steps until you see the results you wanted.

The power of BaronBS nLogic® is based on few very powerfull features:

- nLogic® Blinds®
The most powerfull feature of BaronBS nLogic® is the nLogic® Blinds®, which ignores the things(facts, arguments, technical data, logical explanations, etc.) that you don't want to see, while it makes you able to see and bias the things that you want to see.

- nLogic® Change Subject®
This is very usefull feature and comes in addition to nLogic® Blinds®. It automaticly starts working whenever someone tries to involve you in the real world. For example, when some one starts talking with arguments, explains by using logic and mentions tehcnical data, which are in contradiction with BaronBS nLogic®, than nLogic® Change Subject® automaticly starts changing the subject of discussion until the discutant give up.

- nLogic® I am the best®
This is a bonus feature wich makes you the best in everythin you can imagine. Its concept is simple but 100% efficient. It isolates you in your imagined world and zeroes your social skills. There you have no competition and simply you are the best in everything you imagine.

So far, the BaronBS nLogic® is supported on the HORDE Operating System only. Microsoft hope that their negotiations with the analyst & "dev" BaronBS will be successfull and that they will get a license to include it in Windows Vista.

Funny thing about it, when I first saw Lordpope's post, I figured he was an Intel fanboy and attacking AMD for its so called claim. Wasn't until a few replies later that I realized he was trying to be serious that the AMD claim was true, and of course very misrepresented from what AMD actually said.

As for JumpingJack, I think he's pretty good and very intelligent. I'd also ad that he has helped me a couple times with my AMD rig without ever saying that there was anything wrong with AMD per se'. Sure, he will say that C2D is presently better than anything AMD has at the moment, and I agree with that entirely. That does not say that AMD will not or cannot produce something better in the future, like next spring or there abouts. Only time will tell the truth about that.

Spot on!!!!

You're sooooooooo RIGHT!!!!

Right now I usually say Intel rule because it does. When BARCELONAwill come out, I might change my mind if it does take back the performances crown.

Actually, it's too bad I don't know when it's gonna come out and how it's gonna perform, 'cause I might have waited to get my new system.

It's all about performances for the price you're ready to pay. Nothing elses.

I hate it when people post in the wrong section of the forums. This is not about hardware or CPU's. It should be under community in other.....and then I am not actually sure what the point is anyway. I don't like the flame war crap either but that is what the moderators and admins are here for to keep this stuff under control. (You are preaching to the choir) Take it up with the Amdin and mods. My views on some of the posts are as follows..........

Agree to disagree or "agreeing to disagree" describes or refers to a situation where two or more people or groups of people resolve conflict by reaching an agreement whereby both sides tolerate but do not accept the views, opinions or position of the other side. Both sides typically "agree to disagree" where they recognise that further conflict is unnecessary, ineffective or otherwise undesirable. They may also remain on amicable terms while continuing to disagree. "Agreeing to disagree" is a common phrase in English which may be better described as a situation where the parties agree that they disagree.

In democracy, the concept of agreeing to disagree may expose important issues for debate or consideration. This leads to concepts such as a devil's advocate and a loyal opposition as part of a scrutiny process.

In some cases it is not a bad thing as long as people are not abusive. I have seen a decline in the last couple of months in this kind of nonsense but sadly I see it has reared its ugly head again.

"zomg, the thread title made me think 70% faster than C2D but the article said 70% faster than Opteron. People who are too lazy to read and/or might have no reading comprehension might be mislead!" So what?

You are deranged. You're suggesting the best way to fight the problem of garbage posts is to post more garbage. That the way to combat what you see as too much attention being drawn to speculative forward-looking AMD press releases is to... draw more attention to them? That's moronic.

Forward-looking information is important. Things like future price cuts, Penrynn, Barcelona, r600, etc. We need this news so we can plan our upgrades. Either go crawl back under the rock you were hiding under or make posts that are INFORMATIVE. If you feel people are posting misleading information try correcting them or making posts that are more accurate. Whining about it is annoying at best, and likely furthuring the propogation of misinformation.

If you really do start a campaign of posting flames in response to every "misleading" AMD post I really hope you get banned. I don't even want to waste time reading the titles of such threads again...

Misleading people dumb enough to be mislead by these idiots is fun.
Make more sharp corners. More misleading advertising. Hotter coffee and bring back the lawn dart. All this saftey is allowing idiots to breed in ever larger numbers.

I agree with Elmo. I am getting frustrated with misleading posts. Such as:
K10 IS GUNNA BE 70% FASTER!1!

That is a straw-man falacy. That is not what the title of the post said.

Quote:

When it should have read:
K10 Quad-Core is rumored to be 70% faster than K8 Dual-Core in SOME applications

That is more characters than you are even allowed to put in a thread title. If you actually READ the orginal post and the article it linked to that is EXACTLY what it said. What more do you want?

Quote:

LordPope wanted us to read the title and get mislead to think that:
K10 is going to be 70% faster than Core 2 Quad

But it doesn't say that, does it? In fact, no where in his post or title or source does it say that. And within a few posts someone pointed it out that it was 70% faster than dual-core opteron (someone who happened to be BaronMatrix, not you or Elmo and he didn't even have to start a new thread to do it). Anyone who reads the title and then doesn't read the source or any of the other posts in the thread deserves to be mislead.

ACK!! Another avatar change. Gotta reprogram my mind again.

And yes, I'm afraid this topic has already gone there.

The thing is that I would bet $10 that Jack hasn't raised anyone's consciousness or salary nor have I ruined anyone's life with CPU posts.

Yeah, that thread seems to run the spectrum. But as soon as I read this thread, I couldn't help but think that thread epitomizes your point.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's too much that we can do to stop or change misleading fanboy threads. On a lot of levels, I enjoy them just for the comedy factor.

The post was not meant to deamean you...Much. It was more pointed at all the whiny posters. I dont care if you did or did not mislead some stupid people. That is what the stupid are for. To be manipulated and mislead.

ElMoIsEviL you are pretty much my hero now as I feel the same way you do when people post non factual things to make themselves feel better because the company that they for some reason are in love with isnt actually on top. Here is a forum that I had to give my input on for a person named "ATIisGhostlyBlue" please check it out, I believe his comments begin on page 3, this may add to your anger though, but you may want to make a comment or 2.

I never saw the BaronBS logic before now, but I am glad I did. I hate to have to, but I may need to apply some of it to Ghost if the OP of that logic doesnt mind. -disclaimer...lol

Best,

I didn't mean for you to think I was singling you out. You can't just post a reply, you have to reply to someone.

Being misleading is a semantic term. Everyone makes mistakes. The difference is that I suport AMD so if I do make a mistake peole take the opportunity to deman. I just wanted to make it clear that this is not a college class on CPUs, but a public forum where people can express themselves.

The really funny thing is that I never start a post to single someone out for anything.
