We've noticed a weird "Y" with an asterisk on it in a
directory and deleted it but not it's back. Just
wondering what would cause this folder to be created. We
have the most up to date Server 2000 patches and antivirus
running on the machine.

Make sure you scan with the latest possible virus definitions. I would also run
System File Checker as in sfc /scannow on that computer as described in the link
below.

In addition I would suggest you try the free Process Explorer and Autoruns from
SysInternals to see if you find any strange processes or start up entries on your
computer. Though they most do a great job it is not unusual for a virus scan package
to not detect brand new or certain types of infections. Booting into safe mode
sometimes helps in deleting files. See the last link on how to deal with stubborn
files and folders. --- Steve
