I am thinking of getting a sound card. I read the previous thread, but I'd like more opinions about what to get.

Suggestion from previous thread. $65.

Audigy 4 - can be purchased for $40 on other sites. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6829102011

X fi gamer - $70 after rebate.

I was looking for something a bit cheaper than $70. I play games, but I'm not an audiophile. I don't want a sound card for anything except reducing processor load, and $70 seems a bit much to spend. Maybe I should just wait for a deal on a cheaper card to come? I'm not in any hurry. What is the difference between EAX 2.0 (apparently supported by the first card), EAX 4.0 (supported by the Audigy 4), and EAX 5.0 (supported by the last) in terms of processor load? EAX 5.0 seems to have some interesting effects, such as occlusion, but would that load the cpu more anyway?

Thanks a lot.
