Hi all,

I've been reading here for a while now and found it to be a wealth of information - thanks people!!

Anyway, I've been running my 1ghz AMD with 1gb Ram for long enough now to make me want to upgrade :D

I have some generic case already and a 350w power supply.

I have just bought

Asus P5WDH Deluxe Skt 775 i975X DDR2, PCIe16, dual GbLAN 1394 8ch.audio SATA/RAID0/1/5 WiFi Supports Intel 65NM cpu) ATX Motherboard

Intel CPU Core 2 Duo E6600 2.40GHz 1066FSB LGA775 4MB cache Retail inc.Fan (3yr Manufacturers Warranty)

Sapphire ATI Radeon X550 256MB FireBlade, DDR2, PCI-E, DVI, TV Out, Retail

OCZ® Special Operation Edition 2GB DDR2 PC2-6400 800Mhz, 5-5-5-12 Dual Channel Kit with Spec Ops Camouflage Heatspreader

320GB Seagate Barracuda® SATA2 7200rpm 16MB cache Hard Drive oem (Manufacturer's 5yr Warranty)

What does everyone think of these components? And the way they'll work together?

I know the graphics card is not that good, but the PC will not be used for gaming, just 'normal' PC use. The reason I bought the E6600 was for a super fast processor for future proofing!!

Any hot tips for removing the old kit and installing the new stuff

ANY comments and critiques most welcome.

Is the power supply going to be enough? I'm new at this as well so I'm not sure, you may want to check out the power supply section of these forums. There's two stickies there and I think one of them shows you what kind of power you need for what kind of hardware.

You're also want to be concerned about cooling as well. This new hardware is gonna run so much hotter so you want to be prepared. Does your old case have any room for fans? If everything ends up crammed in there and packed tightly you might want to consider getting a new case which promotes good airflow.

Have fun!

I won't be oc and plan on playing no games; I only know about nvidia cards but I strongly suspect a 350W psu is underpowered. You should read the psu 101 stickied in the power supply forum.

Considering your intended use that RAM might not be worth the extra expense; look at my profile and read the replies to my memory forum post (decent ddr2-533 is most cost-effective for e6600).
