Just think about it: the next generation Geforces might include the 9800 and 9600... Legendary Radeon numbers! :!:

Funny thing is I wonder how the TruForm portion would do.

It was wicked taxing on the R9700 without the hardware but easy on the 8500 because it had dedicated hardware.

PS, I think if I OC'ed the R9600P enough it could take a GF9600Ultra. 8)

Nah, too many lawsuits will ensue. But if they do come out, we should start charging for help on this forum. We'll make a fortune out off idiots wanting to know what's faster: Radeon 9600 or GeForce 9600.

And the day someone comes in saying "I traded my GeForce 9600 in for a Radeon 9800, and for some strange reason it's slower" is the day I declare human stupidity complete.

hmm.... I supose they had an agreement on names ( betwen ATI and Nvidia ) to clasify their cpus,cause if that wasnt the case, ATI would have sued Nvidia on the 8800 name.

cause they had it from a looong time...
besides... after the FX series, they went for the same naming structure as ATI with numericals where in ABCD
A = family or generation , B power level ( as in gpu power) and C revision (the 8850 usually is a better and revised version of 8800)
so.. bleh :P

You can't sue over a model number... no judge would grant a successful patent of a numeral.

Peugot own the patent over a model name which is 3 numbers long and has a 0 as the centre number.
