Misspelled names

Reading a few 5th-grade English level bios is fine; I'm just
happy when someone writes one. (If you please, when you must
correct spelling or grammar in a fellow hero's bio, /tell it.) I
do not flame bad spelling, unless it results in a funny or ironic
meaning. But: It's your frickin' NAME, dude!

Yesterday I saw a higher-than-17th level character named Mister
Stange, member of THE STRANGE FAMILY Supergroup. I would hope he
could Petition to get it fixed, or would notice before he reached
level 4.

Hanging around Miss Liberty can be fun. I saw Shadow Assasin
there.

Anyone got some belief-beggaring name-whoppers to report?

Given all the other issues here - namely, a playing crowd loaded with leet-
speaky geekies - I'm never sure if I'm looking at a misspelling, an attempt
to get around a copyright or a friend's alt's name, or something so n00 and
kewl I don't recognize it.

But yeah, I've seen a couple that had to be simple dumbness of the typing
fingers. Nothing I recall, but like yours - "Stange" for "Strange" etc.

With a name like that, he was probably getting around the fact that his
favorite name was taken. If he had been the first to get Mister Strange,
he would probably be level 50 by now...

You read my mind, the amount of EverQuest 2 players I've seen of late
where I've thought *exactly* the same thing is frankly scaring me. In
all the first person shooters I play, I expect it and ignore it, but it
grates somewhat to see it in an MMORPG where I'm expecting that little
extra.

I sometimes feel I expect too much :-(

There seem to be only a few names that are "cool" enough for the teen
set to use.
Shadow, dark, assassin, ninja, etc.
Since there aren't many combinations of these, the latecomers have to
resort to .'s -'s and misspellings in order to have their "cool" name.

The lord dark darkety dark of darkness effect for allowable names.

>Anyone got some belief-beggaring name-whoppers to report?

I keep seeing 6th column wannabes who call themselves Natch something.

I saw P. King Duck, but that was on a different game.

I have a Shadow/Dark something character. It's tough to avoid if
you take one of the four dark powers. It *is* still comical,
though.

Punny names are fun. I wouldn't want to play as one for 400
hours, but I like to see them around. I just made an AR/Dev named
Jack Flacket, although it probably amuses only me. ;)

Naw, I like that. I started to spin up an alt named Blass Icester.

What gets me are all the spelling and textual errors within the game
itself. There seem to be a zillion typos, and usually when I see one
it's not the sort of thing I can /petition or /bug right at the
moment.

Adrenalin Boost's "you have cast this power" text *still* says "you
are now disoriented." People often mention to me that my casting
macro for it still says my character looks a little woozy afterward,
and I tell them that until Cryptic fixes theirs, I see no reason to
fix mine. :)

There's lots of text, though, and only so many people who bug
things. I try to bug everything I see, but there's only so much
of my time I'm willing to spend on helping them out.

Oh there's always something you can use.

I keep getting tempted to make one just to mock them.

Nacht Nacho or such.

Maybe Nacht Music - obviously have to be very small.

A friend of mine emailed me about his character Electra Glide - "like
the motorbike!" - so when I logged one I tried to friend him. No joy. I
was puzzled, but thought nothing of it and got into a mission. Then I
get a tell from "Electia Glide" saying hi. I realise it's my mate, and
point out he's spelled his name wrong. It takes five times before he
realises that I'm not a complete moron - he keeps replying "no, it's
like the bike!" The fact that I have friended him as "Electia" and that
I'm using that to talk to him doesn't sink in for quite a while.

Now the character's description mentions changing her name due to a
costly lawsuit... :)
