Hi all,

On my vacation I like to use my ipaq. So for internet connection I think I
could use a hotspot finder. Does anybody know a (free) hotspot finder.

Thanks in advance,

Bart

I'll take a shot at this...do you mean long range or short range? I mean,
essentially couldn't you turn on your wi-fi and search for hotspots with the
signal turned on so it would detect them? That's what I did when I was in
Seattle, and the problem wasn't finding one, it was choosing one of the many
that it found!

A free program called WiFiFoFum and mini stumbler will do that. Pocketwinc
as mentioned is also excellent but is not freeware.

I've noticed an application named "HitchHiker" from Kasuei Consulting
Group. The advantage of this one is that it clearly shows whether the
access point is WEP-enabled or not. I don't know of another free tool
that provides that feature. However, I haven't been able to fully
verify whether it works well, as my WiFi connection has been a little
flaky lately.

I think WiFiFoFum can do this as well (also freeware).
