I'm with Jack. Are you unhappy with your current CPU that you wanna upgrade? Just wait for that vapochill and clock the e6400 through the roof!!!

:) well the issue right now is the 6400 is bottlenecking the hell out of the 8800 cards. So i was gonna get something till i figured out how i was going to fit the vapochill to my cm stacker 830 case. Processor purchace is gonna happen as i allready promised a friend they could have the e6400 i pull out ...

Guess from reading various forums i see alot of people saying the 6600 gets a better overclock then the 6700 does.. any truith to this or Just people trying to reason saving a hundred bucks and sacrificing a couple hundred MHZ :) Me i want to get every last MHZ i can so the extra 200 isnt much

For the relatively marginal improvement in performance over the E 6400, you WILL spend a disproportionate amount of money if you purchase an E6600 or E6700. Invest the money in stocks, 401K, Roth, etc... and forget about a CPU upgrade for the short term. I understand that you think your 8800 is hindered by "your measly" E6400. However, overclocking closes the gap of what is a high end C2D and not.

Of course, if you ask 100 people for advice, you will get 100 opinions. I suspect you will follow the one that best matches with your predetermined bias and experience. Next time, I think I will just play devil's advocate.
